National Revolutionary Martyrs' Shrine
Built in 1969, the complex contains the main shrine, as well as the famous guard changing ceremony. Most visitors will leave the area as soon as the guard changing is complete, but be sure to walk inside and explore the fascinating and beautiful Chinese architecture.

National Palace Museum
Originally founded within the walls of the Beijing Forbidden City in 1925, the present-day National Palace Museum moved to Taipei's Shilin District following the Republic of China government relocation in 1949 with an official opening for the public in 1965. Over 600,000 of the most precious artefacts within the collection were moved to Taiwan to prevent their desecration during and after the Chinese Civil War.

This attraction is optional, you can either spend your time on admiring the precious artifacts or skip the museum if you're not interested.

Elephant Mountain (aka Nangang District Hiking Trail)
This is the best choice if you want to get the best spot to admire the view of Taipei City & Taipei 101.

However, a 40-minute hiking along the stairs is required (25-min going up, 15-min going down), but the view up there is definitely the best you can have in Taipei City.
